Repentance is not behavior modification.
Repentance is a change of rule.
It is the moment a person turns from the mystery of iniquity —
the inner decision to live independently from God —
and turns fully to Jesus Christ as Lord.
The mystery of iniquity is not just sin on the outside.
It is the inner source of sin.
It works through:
self-will
the corrupted heart
the unsubmitted soul
the old nature
the flesh
This is why Scripture says:
“Out of the heart come evil thoughts…”
— Jesus
Sin begins inside, then manifests outwardly.
As long as the heart rules itself, sin will rule the life.
True repentance is not:
trying harder
promising God
stopping a few bad habits
cleaning up behavior
True repentance is a turning:
turning from self-rule
turning from the old inner man
turning from independence
turning from darkness
turning to Jesus Christ alone
Repentance is the moment the heart says:
“I cannot rule myself. I need God.”
When a person truly repents and places faith in Jesus Christ:
the old inner man is crucified
sins are forgiven
guilt is removed
God gives a new heart (new will and desires)
the human spirit is made alive
reconciliation with God begins
This is salvation.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”
This is not repair.
This is recreation.

New birth brings life, but not yet strength.
A newborn believer is alive, forgiven, and clean —
but still vulnerable.
The old nature is still present.
The flesh still resists.
The world still pressures.
Satan still accuses.
That is why repentance and salvation must lead forward —
not stop here.
Repentance does not save by effort.
Repentance positions the heart to receive life.
It prepares the soul for:
new birth
the Holy Spirit
transformation
maturity
victory
Repentance clears the throne —
so Christ can reign.
Repentance and salvation bring forgiveness and life.
But power comes next.
This is why Jesus said believers must receive the Holy Spirit.
